This is the view from the Sedona Overlook on the south end of Wilson Mountain looking Eastsoutheast. Mitten Ridge and Munds Mountain prominent in the upper middle. I hiked Wilson Mountain in Sedona's Oak Creek Canyon up the North Trail from the Encinosa Campground.

At 7,122 feet, Wilson Mountain is the highest of the red and white sandstone peaks surrounding Sedona, so its upper slopes provide the best elevated views of the area. The top is a grassy basalt plateau about 2 miles across, rather than a discrete summit, and may be reached from two directions, via steep trails that converge half way up and continue to a second junction in woodland on the plateau. From here one branch goes south to an overlook of Sedona and lower Oak Creek, while the other, longer path leads to the north edge of the plateau for an equally fine panorama of upper Oak Creek. The shorter of the two approach routes still involves a round trip of 10 miles and an elevation gain of 2,200 feet (add 2 miles and 250 feet for the alternative), making this the most strenuous hike near Sedona, but the effort is rewarded by beautiful scenery and relatively few other hikers.

This is the only place where I have been really cold in Timor. Leave by 3 am in order to see the sun rise from the top of the mountain.

This is the view I get every morning while I’m here in Phuket, Thailand. The scenery here is spectacular. The sun rise however is either hit or miss… missing more than it hits. But when it does hit, it’s one of the most beautiful places to watch the sunrise.

Camelback Mountain from unnamed Peak. Camelback is one of the most popular hiking spots in Phoenix. Two Trailheads - Echo Canyon and Cholla. Parking is horrible. Most people see it from the other side, coming in to Sky Harbor Airport But this is the hiking side.

The Franklin Mountains of Texas are a small range (23 miles long, 3 miles (4.8 km) wide) that extend from El Paso, Texas north into New Mexico.[1] The Franklins were formed due to crustal extension related to the Cenozoic Rio Grande rift. Although the present topography of the range and adjoining basins is controlled by extension during rifting in the last 10 million years, faults within the range also record deformation during the Laramide orogeny, between 85 and 45 million years ago.

The highest peak is North Franklin Mountain at 7,192 feet (2,192 m). Much of the range is part of the Franklin Mountains State Park. The mountains are composed primarily of sedimentary rock with some igneous intrusions. Geologists refer to them as tilted-block fault mountains and in them can be found billion-year-old Precambrian rocks, the oldest in Texas.

The A is lit on fire when Austin High School (from which I graduated long ago) plays sports.

We were so fortunate to see Denali on a clear day, when you can clearly see the mountain.

When you're in Alaska, you call the mountain Denali, elsewhere in the United states you call it Mount McKinley.

I wonder what the rest of the world calls it.
